FAQs – Round 1
Topic:
What is the topic of The Finding Sun Tzu Challenge 2011?
The challenge for 2011 is titled “ Winning Through Disruptive Innovation”; participants have to showcase original business ideas and business models that they will use to market products and / or services in any sector of their choice
Can I borrow aspects from existing business models and adopt them into my idea?
Yes. However, the business model that you finally develop will have to be original and not in existence in the chosen sector or industry. This is a contest to develop fresh ideas and NOT to present disruptive business models that have been already put into practice by Corporates.
How do I know my idea is disruptive?
Participants are encouraged to undertake significant secondary market research in their chosen sector and also read works of thought leaders on this subject. Avalon Consulting posts interesting content on its Facebook page on this topic to aid participant thought process. We understand that ideas may need refinement to be totally disruptive. At this time we encourage you to participate; no idea is too small or uninteresting for us to look at.
Submissions:
Where can I find the entry form for submitting my entry?
You will first need to register for the challenge by visiting our website www.consultavalon.com. Upon registration, participant 1 of your team will receive an email with the first round entry form (in PPT format) attached. All entries must be returned in this form only as a PPT document. Files should be named in the following format <unique ID>_Round 1_<team name>.ppt
Can I add additional slides to the first round entry form?
No. Participants need to submit entries using only the space provided. Participants should not also change the font size used in the text boxes. We are looking for winners who can clearly articulate their ideas on disruptive business models. We have provided an extra slide to be used for any graphical output. We typically receive over 500 submissions and thus require entries to be standardised for effective judging.
When is the last date for submitting entries?
Entries for the first round of the challenge will be accepted until 2300 HRS on the 28th of August. Any entries received after this will be disqualified.
How do I know my entry has been received by Avalon Consulting?
You will receive an acknowledgement when we have received your entry. Acknowledgements will be sent by us after collating submissions received at the end of each working day. You may not receive an immediate response.
I have made some changes to my submission; can I re-submit it?
Yes. You can undertake any number of re-submissions before the last date and time for submissions. However, re-submitting frequently will only uncover a lack of clarity of thought process. So beware !
Online Contests:
